After seen two nice hacks (one with C Sharp using mono and the other with python) about changing the background of your GNOME Desktop using ~/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml, I've decided to create my own version with Bash script you can get the script from

and

This uses XMLStarlet tool to run.

If you are interested on the other hacks you can get those from
http://mieszkancy.ds.pg.gda.pl/~zdzichu/backchanger.cs and http://richip.dhs.org/change-background.py.

Now you can set a crontab to change the wallpaper every 3 hours for example.

crontab -e to open your crontab file and insert the line:

0 */3 * * * /path to script/change-background.sh


Long time with no posting at my blog, even with lot ot things happen to my life. The FSL has already finished, I spend a great time with my old and new friends there, also I have upload a photo gallery with all the pictures I have.



My friend Cesar show me two interesting projects about the desktop with linux Tango project and Better desktop it sounds great, so if you are interesting to colaborate, go ahead.

There are some other stuff that I forget but I will post as far as i can.

Last weekend I went to Guadalajara to visit family and friends where I met my new niece who is only 3 weeks old. I spent a great time with them, also i went to pick up my new laptop, which is where I am writing this post . I have installed ubuntu and runs great .

Also we went to eat "tortas ahogadas" which is a typical dish from guadalajara, jalisco made with bread, meat, tomato sauce and lot of chili sauce. Back to mexico city I brought some tortas for the ximian folks his faces got red because the chili.

Planet N

Last friday Jason Feilbach added my rss feed to Planet N, a planet site for all the Novell employees. I spent a couple hours last sunday making a nice promotional button on Gimp to show on my blog site about planet N.
