New year, new activities

This year has lot of new activities to do, first of all, I have to finish my social service at CCIP. Also, as the president of GLO I have lot of new duties. Redimido and I were planning the new activity calendar of GLO, and started to organize the new projects at GLO, starting with a GLO counter project (like the linux counter site, expecting to promote more active members at GLO, this project will be ready very soon, I have working on it almost 3 weeks. We have two more projects, but we'll talk about them after.

I have good news about the 4to. Festival GNU/Linux y Software Libre, this will be at Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco on September 28th to 30th 2005, and we are already working on it.

See you tomorrow geeks :)

A new era!

Well, finally...., after days and days with no blogging. I'm back.
This is gonna be a long post. I have lot of things to say :).

Before I start, I have to tell you all that I have changed my home page, My new brand new adress is: http://patux.glo.org.mx, the old one http://glo.org.mx/~patux/ is not working any more. And as far as the webmaster make a few changes to the apache web server of GLO, the old one will redirect to you to this new one. I still waiting the webmaster to do his job. I'm sorry if this cause any trouble to you.

In other words, we had the posada two weeks ago, I would like to say that it was a terrific posada but I can't. It was terrible. Only 8 guys came including me!!! (no girls, except one at the end of the posada, and she was girlfriend of a friend)!!! WTF!!!! The next year I should avoid to say that the posada will be full of geeks. hehee :)

I finished school. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, (Licenciatura en Informatica) last friday. It's time to new chalenges, new things to do, (ha well I still doing my social service at school, but time have no mercy and April is at the next corner :P)
I'm thinking study a master degree or something similar but keeping me working. No time to stop.

In other things, last monday the GLO A.C. had the anual meeting. I don't know how to say this, I don't know if this is goog news or bad news for me, at the end of the meeting I was elect as the new president for GLO in 2005. More work ? more responsabilities ? yes. But that is something that I truly belive. The only thing I know is: I'll do my best, that's for shure.

Oh, I almost forgot, YACOMAS is being tested at the Universidad Pedagogica Nacional to see if thw would use for the Canadian International Law Students Conference. The link is here:
http://linux.ajusco.upn.mx/cilsc/. That is very good news for me. It make me feel better and inmprove new features, and keep working hard :)

Well, that's all folks.
See you latter geeks :)

YACOMAS 0.3_alpha released!

Well, I finally decided to work again on YACOMAS the project I started to control all the conferences, workshops, tutorials and attendees at Festival de Software Libre (FSL) last September.
It is based on The COMAS proyect but is developed with PHP and MySQL.

I realized that it is a lot of work: documentation, translation, debug, and code optimizacion mainly. It's a lot of work for me, So if you are interested in yacomas, you are wellcome to colaborate.

You can take a look at the demo here.

BTW: I have ussing a nice graphical diff tool called Meld.
Here is a screenshot with my yacomas code:

Geronimo!

I'm shocked, my friend Don tolme that the Apache Software Foundation is working on an open source project called Geronimo. Geronimo is Apache's ASF-licenced J2EE server project. Its good to be Geronimo, if you ask me :).

Well today I took the What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? quiz.

The result as usual is on my If I were section at my web page.
