Simpler and humble


Hi everybody, I know I have been very quiet for a while, that happens when you are very busy with your personal life and do not want to mess around with geek activity and sometimes you just want to take some personal experiences for yourself specially when you have a girlfriend. I changed a lot, in a good way in a mature way, and I grow up in my personal life *a lot* but at the same time being part of the completely adult world makes you to forget or to place your geek part behind, even if you continue doing some hacking, research or similar related to what is my passion FLOSS (Free/Libre and Open Source Software).

I traveled to US to go to Novell,Inc. to train a Colleague that just joined to the team, he is really good

Then my manager at Novell asked me why I have that long without writing at my blog and I just tell him I do not have anything important to write. Well, after thinking a little bit about it, that's not 100% true Recently I have been involved in so many ways in geek activities, even pseudo geek activities like twitter mtgs at my home town Guadalajara which I enjoy a lot .

About two weeks ago I attend GuadalajaraDevHouse http://guadalajaradevhouse.org/, where I work with other local folks on personal projects such as: http://adaptivert.com to do some embedded systems control using opensource.

BTW: the code we are doing is OpenSource .

Also I just noticed that the right people come back to keep pushing the opensource in mexico with the FSL the old and original people that bring FSL to life and That Makes me really happy, (even when they told me they want to restart FSL, and I have serious doubts about it).

Come, join us is going to be good as the old days, even if this first re-FSL will probably be the smallest of all of the previous FSLs.




PS. I moved to the dark side and I am now a fellow member of the Church of Emacs. Yes I've been using emacs for ~2 and a half years.And I love it You must try it

Recientemente entre a estudiar la Maestria en Tecnologias de la Informacion, en el CUCEA, dado su flexibilidad de horario para poder estudiar y a la vez trabajar.

Debido a esto tengo la necesidad de comprar una nueva laptop, ya que mi anterior Dell Inspiron, paso a mejor vida debido a que un Starbucks Venti (20oz de cafe harto caliente) termino en los entresijos de mi laptop en vez de los mios. .

Pense comprarme una pequeña laptop, no tan pequeña como la acer one de 8.9" ni tampoco como la HP mini 10", sino algo mas como de 12".

Dado que Dell vende tambien equipos con Linux (Ubuntu), Decidi hacer la prueba cotizando la Dell Inspiron Mini 12

La misma maquina con hardware identico sale mas cara con Linux que con Windows. ~ 1k mas cara.





Quise preguntar a un asesor de ventas por telefono y entre tantos cambios de extension terminaron colgandome...

Entonces decidi consultarlo por chat con algun asesor de ventas de dell para terminar igual de perdido que al principio. Aqui la historia

Entonces no me queda sino escribir la historia en mi blog para ver si alguien de la comunidad de software libre o algun lector o alguien que trabaje en dell y si sepa la respuesta me pueda sacar de dudas.

Llamenme pendejo o atrasado, pero este video de linuxmce, me ha sorprendido de sobre manera, es increible hasta donde esta entrando el Software Libre y como este va supernado a las opciones propietarias.

Thanks to k001operator, who fixes a couple of bugs related to my bad code , I found time to patch yacomas-0.3.4 with the patch made by k001operator, also I have added a new flag, and change other minor stuff. So here it is:

* Add SEND_MAIL flag
* Modify send mail to use SEND_MAIL flag
* Change mysql_escape_string by mysql_real_escape_string
* Verify addslashes and stripslashes in a correct way
It fixes bugs related with escape strings. (Thanks to: k001.operator).

PS. I did not know that fonasol was using yacomas :O yay!!
